What's For Dinner?

Have you ever skipped going to the grocery store because you felt like you could make it another week, and did not feel like dragging 2 kids through the store. Then the end of the 2ND week rolls around and you realize there is really nothing to make for dinner. Today is one of those days. I use my crock pot ALOT. I work on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays night. When my Husband takes over the dinner and bedtime routine I try to have dinner made for him. Well it's Thursday and I do not have time to go the store and I hate spending money on take out. (especially if I'm not going to be there to enjoy it) Looks like I am going to throw Chicken Breasts,Onions, half of a green pepper and I have 1/4 a jar of Salsa in the crock pot and see what happens. He can serve it over rice. Hope he likes it. Hope Monkey boy eats it too.

yes! I am having a week like that right now! We were grocery shopping so much that I decided we needed to space out those big shopping trips 4 weeks- a month apart, rather than every week (which is what we had been doing). 1 1/2 more weeks to go!!!

I have plans to make pancakes & eggs, baked french toast, Muenster Chicken (which is really yummy and just takes chicken breasts, chicken broth, and cheese). We'll really have to get creative.

Let me know if you make it through the week without shopping!

I have been there! I'm always throwing things together. I think that sounds fine though. I like to take salsa and sour cream and mix them together (sometimes with a little taco seasoning too) and put them in the crockpot over my chicken. It's SO yummy! :)

Happens all the time. I am not very good, however at making something out of nothing, that is where my husband comes in. He's much better at making good meals when we have no food. I depend on lots of ingredients and recipes.

I get to those points too where I'm literally scraping the back of the freezer looking for anything I can put together and call a meal!!

The one thing I've started doing is making double batches of certain things, like pasta sauce and roasted chicken. Then when I'm in a pinch I can just defrost it and it's an easy meal. I've just started doing this so I haven't really reaped the benefits quite yet.
