Just Say No

This afternoon It took me literally a 2 hours to organize the Scholastic book club order. I some how volunteered to be the book club mom in my sons preschool. I unknowingly thought this would be a piece of cake. Boy was I wrong. 1st you have to collect the orders from parents and try real hard not to misplace one as the parents hand these forms to you when you are feeding your 7 mo old, or dealing with a 4 year old that is crying because he can't go to a park. After you collect all the forms you need to make sure that the parents added up there orders right and make the check out to the right person and in the correct amount. If you happen to get one that's wrong you need to contact that parent and keep your fingers crossed that they have not disconnected there phone number, because then you will need to wait for the said parent to show up at drop-off and tell them they wrote their check out wrong. Then when you get home you need to call the order in: Say all 43 books by name and order number and be sure not to miss one because you will be destroying some little kids heart if by accident you order the wrong book. Then after you order is phoned in you must remember to but all the parent checks in the mail. Then in 7-10 business days you need to organize and distribute all the books to the children. And guess what you get to do this 8 more times this year. So believe me when I tell you ! Just say No !

Let's Play

Monkey boy wants so badly to play with Lil worm. It's hard for me to come up with things that they can do together and still keep Lil worm safe. It will be easier in another year when he's walking around. I bought Lil worm a baby swing to put on the backyard swing set. Monkey boy loves the fact that now his Baby Brother can have swing races with him. Just looking at my two Boys on the swing set is pure Bliss for me! I really hope they will grow up and be good friends.

Daddy Does Cloth Diapers

I am participating in a Cloth diaper Carnival hosted by Kim at Dirty Diaper Laundry the Theme for this months Carnival is Husbands and Cloth!

  • A lot of people in my immediate family and friends think I'm crazy because I Cloth Diaper Lil Worm. You have to remember I never Cloth diapered my 1st son Monkey Boy. I actually looked into it on the Internet when I was pregnant, but my Husband told me he would never change a diaper If I wanted to use cloth on Monkey boy. ( He was scared of the unknown) Being a 1st time mom I could not convince him to give it a try. When we had Lil worm I wanted to Cloth Diaper him . This time I Cloth Diapered him all day and then called my Husband at work and told him that "Surprise I Cloth Diapered our son all day and it was easy and actually fun" I showed my husband how to change a Cloth Diaper When he got home from work and because we use Imse Vimse Flushable Liners He was on board too. They make it so easy to change a poppy diaper! I am amazed at how much this Daddy can do! From not wanting to try it to being able to do a Bikini Twist Fold with a Prefold and a Snappi ! A wile back my back went out and my Laundry Room is in the basement . Did my Husband run out a buy disposables? Nope he washed them and stuffed the pockets like a champ. It is great knowing that my Husband and I are on the same page with Cloth Diapering our son . Even if some of our friends and family think we are crazy . If you have ever considered Cloth Diapering believe me when I tell you It's not the Horror Stories you hear of of Pins and Plastic Pants. It's Modern ,Hip, and Easy to Cloth Diaper so go ahead and try you may become obsessed like me .

Love A Good Bargain!

I found these Batman P.J.'s at Marshalls for $5.99 ( mask not included) They are a size 6 . They came with a cape. Seriously so cool. Monkey boy loves Batman and I could not pass up this deal. The shirt fit fine but the pants were too long so I hemmed them . I just did it by hand because I do not have a sewing machine. These pajamas remind me of the Wonder Woman UnderRoo's I had when I was a little girl. Mine had a cape too. I wore them all the time. It's funny how buying a cute pair of pajamas for your son can make you remember all the fun you had in those Wonder Woman UnderRoo's. Monkey boy loves his pajamas with a cape and I love a good bargain!

Sleep Training my 4 year old !!!

So Monkey boy sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night and comes into our bedroom and wants to sleep with us. The problem is that when he sleeps he is like the ticking arms of a clock he starts out at noon and ends up at 3:45 . We only have a queen bed. Sometimes Lil worm ends up in our bed too so there isn't any room . We came up with a "Sleep In Your Bed Chart" and after he sleeps in his bed the entire night he gets to put a sticker on the chart. When he fills the chart full he wins a trip to the dollar store to pick out a toy. This chart had 5 boxes but the next chart will have 8 boxes and we will keep adding boxes to make it more of a challenge for him. If he decides he can't sleep in his bed for whatever reason we let him sleep on the floor next to us. Seriously there is no room in the bed! This way he still feels safe and comfortable . If he comes down to our room I remind him that if he goes back in his room he gets a sticker in the morning ,but he can always sleep with us if he needs too. Hopefully this will soon be a thing of the past very soon. These are pictures I took of him in the morning when I woke up to find him practically sleeping under our bed. Tell me what to you do with your night visitors ?

Take me out to the ball game....

We recently had the pleasure of taking Monkey boy to his 1st baseball game. My husband received tickets through his dad work. (Thanks Papa) I was so excited to watch Monkey boy as he was in awe with the field. Where we were sitting the baseball players were practicing on the side.(I Think Its Called The Bull Pen?) We let monkey boy walk up there and he asked the players for a ball. After a wile the ACTUALLY gave him a field ball. My camera was put away so I didn't get a picture of the player handing him the ball, but I took many pictures of Monkey boy and his ball afterward. We left before the game ended because it was way past his bed time, and the Sox were loosing anyway. Monkey boy fell asleep in the car on the way home and slept with his ball in his bed that night . It was so great watching Monkey boy have the time of his life at his 1st baseball game. This moment in his life I'm sure will become a fond memory for him. I know it will be for me.

Bumpkins Diapers

I currently have 2 Bumpkins diapers in my stash right now. I have the Green Urban print, and the Pet Parade. I bought these diapers because I love the Bumpkins super bib and thought the prints were real cute. This Diaper is a true all -in-one. There is nothing to stuff and the soakers are connected to the diaper. It attaches with Velcro. I have size Medium. Lil worm weighs 17 lbs I'm not sure how much longer this size will last on him although the Medium is suppose to go up to 22 lbs. I've been using these diapers for well over 5 months now and they wash great and the Velcro thy use seamed not to be affected with being washed so many times I do not like this diaper for night time use because it wasn't absorbent enough for us. However, for day time use this diaper is very good.

I'm Exhausted!

I'm Exhausted! Many of you might not know that I work part-time. I am a Dance Instructor. I teach Ballet,Tap,and Jazz to 2 year olds up to 13. I love teaching dance. It's a great creative outlet for me. In the summer I probably only teach 8 classes a week, but when school starts I teach about 20 classes a week. This past week was my 1st full week since summer and I,m exhausted. I take Monkey boy to school and pick him up on M,W,F and on Tuesdays I work when my husband gets home only 3 classes and on Wednesday my MIL comes over at noon after I pick my son up from preschool and I teach 8 classes. On Thursday I go to work once again when my husband gets home and I teach another 3 classes. Then on Saturday mornings I teach anywhere from 6 to 8 classes it varies. When I was little I had a lot of baby sitters and went to many daycare centers . I always knew I didn't want this for my children. I'm fortunate enough to have a flexible job that allows me to work when I can fit it into my schedule. The only people watching my children are family. I am truly blessed that this worked out for me. Well I forgot to tell you that I also take monkey boy to a library class on Thursday mornings. I'm pooped. This week has been hard. It's Saturday night and I am waiting for Lil worm to go to bed so I can go to bed. I have so much to do on Sunday as far as laundry and cleaning just so we can survive another week. I'm also taking Lil Worm to get his 6 mo pictures done tomorrow. AS far as accomplishing housework tonight I can't I just have to let it all go until tomorrow I need to try to get some sleep so I can survive another week. Tell me do you ever feel like you can't keep up with your busy schedule?

One Last Splash

Since Summer is over I wanted to put our 80 degree weather to good use one more time. Near our house there is a splash park. And for a few dollars you can run through the most amazing sprinkler system. Monkey boy loves this. I love watching him. Lil worm was a real good boy and relaxed with me under a shade tree. When it was time for Lil worm to take a nap this veteran mommy forgot his blanket that he snuggles up with to fall asleep. I thought for sure he would not fall asleep but then I gave him a beach towel not as soft but it made do. I'm sad to see that summer is over but if we had it all year long we would probably tire of it.

Preschool Update

I was very diligent and getting Monkey boy to bed on time all weekend long. I wanted to make sure he was well rested for school. Monkey boy had a great day at preschool on Monday. The Teacher said that all was well for the day and he got a thumbs up from her. The night before school we drew her a Sorry picture. It turned out real cute (I should have taken a picture of it ) I wrote the words sorry on the top and he drew a smiley face below that and he wrote out his name, then he added dinosaur stickers because he thought she would like them. We talked about how we were making her the picture to say we were sorry for yelling at her. I told him its O.K to be angry and upset but not O.K. to yell at his teacher. I reminded him that the Teacher does not yell at him so we don't yell at her. I'm very glad I did not have a repeat of Friday's class. Hopefully the rest of the school year will go well.

A Mother's Love

Its amazing how much you can love your kids. I look at Monkey boy when he's sleeping and my heart just aches . He's growing so fast right before my eyes. Maybe thats why I look at Lil worm and just cry because I want to freeze this time.. His little hands, His little toes, His little nose. I smell his head.. I don't want this ride to stop. They are my everything. I'm so priviliged and honored that God chose me to be their mom. I Thank the Lord everyday for the most amazing gift he could ever give me A Mother's Love.

2nd Day Of Preschool......

Today at preschool pick up the Teacher asked me to stay after so she could have a word with me . So as I waited for her to release the other children to there parents I started thinking..... What did this kid do? hit someone, not share, swear ? Well Monkey boy had a major meltdown when the Teacher asked him to put away the crayons after the were done doing a workbook page. Monkey boy later told me that he wasn't finished and our crayons at home are too old so he wanted to finish. The teacher made him put away the crayons. He got very upset and started yelling at her "Noooo I don't want to" She reminded him that he needs to be a team player. "I don't want to be on a team... I 'll be on a team when I play soccer. " He was crying and totally over reacting but in his 4 year old world this was a major situation. The teacher then asked me what I do at home when he acts this way? She was very concerned because he seamed so angry. I informed her that usually I tell him to go calm down in his room and when his attitude is better we talk about it. I think they put fuel to the fire because they were trying to talk him out of it right away. With my kid that doesn't work. He just keeps fighting back because he is very strong willed and HE wants to win. Well after school we went to the park with his best friend and ate lunch and played. I'm going to have Monkey boy draw the Teacher a sorry picture. I only hope this doesn't put a "label" on my child in her head for the rest of the year. I hope Mondays class goes better.

First Day Of Preschool

Monkey boy started his 1st day of 4 year old preschool. Even though he is about to turn 5 in October he misses the cut off date so he is one of the older kids in his class. I'm feeling good about him staying in preschool a little bit longer than the average kid. I don't know what I'm going to do when he starts Kindergarten. I'm sure I will ball my eyes out because I'm the emotional type. I will say it again" these kids grow too fast" and every stage of there life is so bitter sweet. I'm happy to see him learn and grow and develop new interests, but so sad to see the footie pajamas go. Anyway monkey boy liked his new classroom and new teacher. Hope this will be a great year for him. I also hope he learns to print his whole name better.

WHY?????

I was on the computer blogging wile Lil Worm was taking a nap. I had a great cup of coffee and was enjoying reading all the new posts of the day when I look over at Monkey boy who has a video game cord wrapped around his neck. I may not ever understand what would compel a little boy to wrap a cord around his neck. He's almost 5 so obviously this seamed like fun to him.(it wasn't accidental) I grabbed the camera took a picture and made him take it off his neck. And I still wonder WHY?

Wordless Wednesday (almost)

This is one of my favorite pictures of Lil Worm. He was born early at 36 weeks and I had to leave him in the hospital. To my surprise on one of my visits the nurse drew eyes on his eye protector. I put it in Lil worms scrapbook. It made me laugh to walk in and see that and know that every day he was getting better.

I love Baby legs !!!!

I really love baby legs. They are so easy to wear during the day when you are doing multiple diaper changes. I feel like they make a perfect outfit for the pre-fall season when added with a onesie. Baby Legs have so many designs out there that really you can go crazy. I could easily become a baby leg Hoarder LOL.
Lil worm has about 3 in his wardrobe right now A monkey print, a pirate print , and a robot print. My husband thought they looked kinda girly on Lil worm but just like cloth diapering it grew on him. I also think that they are a great product for when LIl worm starts crawling. They will help protect his knees on my hard wood floor.

How to blow a bubble

Monkey boy really wanted to learn how to blow a bubble. So I had some Hubba Bubba bubble gum. I gave myself a piece and gave him a piece. ( Man is that gum surgery )We both chewed up the gum . I told him to roll it into a ball in his mouth. Then I showed him how to poke his tongue through the gum half way. Teaching this to a 4 year old is so harder then it seams. I told him to take his index finger and when he feels the gum on the tip of his finger to blow. Well it to many tries, but he was so proud of himself when he finally blew a bubble. I was proud of my self for having the patience to teach him.

Temper Temper

How can this sweet little boy have such a temper sometimes. He's 4 going on 17. Sometimes its his way or the highway. I normally take away things from him that he treasures in order to get him to listen. But sometimes he just talks back so much and is outright rude and disrespectful. Who's kid is this? I say to myself. I try so hard to raise my children to be polite and kind. Sometimes when he is throwing a temper tantrum and acting rude I scratch my head? I wonder what am I doing wrong? What could I do better? I have tried time-outs, talking it out,and taking away toys. Any parenting tips out there for a almost 5 year old who is strong willed?

I have A Problem

I cant stop looking at Etsy and Hyena Cart. I spend a good deal of time every day looking at all the crafts that mostly crafty moms make. There are so many cute mom based shops out there. There is so much to choose from that I can never come up with a decision on what to buy. I recently purchased some fleece soakers from a etsy shop at http://www.babybugcreationsllc.com/. She makes awesome fleece soakers. Lil worm tried this out over a prefold with a Snappi. I was amazed that he was dry after 3 hours. She makes cute shirts to match the soakers. (Those mamas who have boy's know we need all the cute we can get) I loved her products. She has awesome fabric choices. Notice LIl worm sporting the Muli Owl Print. I cant wait to try her fleece longies this winter.

Monkey boy and his Baby Reindeer

Monkey Boy has a little stuffed baby Reindeer. It's his favorite toy right now. This Reindeer has to go everywhere and do everything with him. When I was pregnant with Lil worm my husband and I were cleaning out the play room. We were getting ready to donate toys He grabbed the Reindeer and said "this is garbage right?" I said no way. Monkey man plays with this all the time. HE said "really ? " My husband works a lot and sometimes doesn't notice the obvious around him. LOL When will this boy who is about to turn 5 give up this beloved Reindeer ? I don't know for now I just let it be. They grow up to fast to worry about it .
